An international seminar titled “Trends in Scientific Development in the Context of Digitalization and Globalization” was held at Tajik National University on the initiative of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The seminar was opened by Sayfiddin Davlatzoda, Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the continued support of the Head of State for the development of science and education and emphasized the Commission’s role in regulating and improving the certification system for scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel.

Participants discussed the need to update scientific requirements and evaluation criteria in accordance with current global developments and international standards. Particular attention was given to improving scientific journals and aligning their activities with the requirements of international databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.

The seminar featured presentations from prominent scholars and experts, including Mamadsho Ilolovich Ilolov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, who spoke about the development of mathematical sciences and digital technologies; Alina Bakytzhanovna Zhumagulova, Director General of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating, who addressed new trends in improving the quality of scientific research in higher education; and Mumin Mashokir Sharifzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, who presented an analysis of the publishing activities of scientific and higher professional education institutions in Tajikistan.

Other presentations focused on international scientific publishing and quality assurance. Inesh Ergazyevna Kenzhina, Clarivate’s representative for Central Asia, discussed practical approaches and global experience related to scientific journals indexed in Web of Science. Olga Alekseevna Yanovskaya, Advisor to the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating, examined the impact of international standards on quality assurance in science and education. Dmitry Viktorovich Sultanov, Scientific Research Solutions Advisor at Elsevier in Central Asia, delivered a virtual presentation on Scopus selection criteria and the development of scientific journals based on international publishing principles.

Representatives of Kulob State University named after Abuabdullo Rudaki, universities and institutes in the Sughd region, and Khorog State University named after M. Nazarshoev also participated virtually in the discussion. They shared their views and experiences on adapting scientific journals to the international standards of Scopus and Web of Science.

The seminar concluded with Certificates of Appreciation being awarded to Abdullo Mamadamon, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor at Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Osimi, and Farrukh Sharofzoda, Doctor of Chemical Sciences and Senior Researcher at the China-Tajikistan Innovation Center for Natural Products of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The certificates recognized their publication of scientific articles in prestigious international databases and their contribution to strengthening the international reputation of Tajik science.
